A tasty and colorful side dish that goes well with a range of main courses is yellow jasmine rice. Turmeric gives the rice a gorgeous golden color and a faint earthy flavor.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup jasmine rice
- 1 3/4 cups water
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, butter or oil, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid
Simmer the rice for 15-20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes
Fluff the rice with a fork before serving
