Ingredients:
- 1 block tofu, pressed and cubed
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons black bean sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- Green onions, thinly sliced for garnish
Instructions:
In a bowl, toss cubed tofu with cornstarch until evenly coated
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat
Add tofu cubes and cook until crispy and golden brown on all sides
Remove tofu from skillet and set aside
In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed
Saut garlic and ginger until fragrant
Add black bean sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and vegetable broth to the skillet
Stir well to combine
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch-water mixture
Cook until the sauce thickens
Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, tossing gently to coat with the sauce
Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the tofu is heated through and well coated with sauce
Garnish with thinly sliced green onions before serving
Serve hot with rice or noodles
